Why do some messages automatically go to deleted items folder?

While using Outlook 2000, sometimes incoming messages go straight to the
deleted items folder. If they appear in the inbox it's for a microsecond -
then, straight to the trash. The only way I know I've received the mail is
to listen for the sound I have associated with incoming mail...

Now, I make it a habit to check the deleted items folder to see who has
mailed me. This is ridiculous. Anyone got an idea?

Check to see if you have any rules turned on that would send mail to the
deleted items folder.
