why do I loose my typing back into what I have typed?

During my typing on a letter my curser relocates itself at random somewhere
back in the message I have typed and there continues my sentence. Even while
typing this small message I have 'lost' the curser twice. Very annoying! Help
please.

If it happens in other programs besides Word, then it isn't Word's problem.

Are you typing on a laptop? Does it have a touchpad below the space bar? If so,
be very careful not to brush the touchpad accidentally. If you can, turn off the
touchpad and use an external mouse.
