My curser is skipping back when I am typing. How do I fix

When I am typing my curser just goes back and starts adding in the middle of
what I have already typed. I can't get thru a word or sentence.
Any ideas how to fix this?

If you have a laptop with a touchpad, avoid brushing it with your thumbs.
