Why do I get an operation failed message when cheking for emails?

When I go to check for emails other then my "automatic update" and click on
the "send/receive button, i get a message window sayong My Operation Failed.
Why and how do I fix?

Hi,
maybe you try to create a new profile,
sounds like it is corrupt
