Why Did My Images Disappear?

I had created a large PowerPoint slide show (about 275 photos) with narration
and mp3 music. I t worked fine except that I could not insert video. I
posted a thread on that problem and have not had any success on that front.
But now, suddenly PowerPoint does not show any of the photos in the working
window. They do show up in the thumbnails along the left and do appear in
the actual show when it is run. This now happens to all shows that I had
created as well as for any new show. If I insert a picture from a file, the
photo shows up in the thumbnail and in the show, but I see nothing except its
placeholder in the working window. Text shows up fine. I re-installed
PowerPoint to no avail. Any Suggestions as to what might have happened so
suddenly and how to correct it?

Thanks,
Wally

I answered my own question after a bit of research. The problem was with
graphics hardware acceleration. I had to reduce it to get my images back.
Frankly, I don't understand why all my PowerPoint presentations for the last
year (including this one) have worked fine with full acceleration and now I
have to stop it down three notches. Can't say that I am happy with that
since I suspect it will affect the many graphic programs I use. Is there
another solution?

Wally,

which version of PowerPoint do you use? Especially, if it's PPT 2003,
please make sure that all updates are installed. There are currently two
service packs available for Office 2003, so SP2 should be installed.

Best regards,
Ute

Ute, I use PowerPoint XP (2002) and have installed all updates (up to SP3).
