why did my calendar events change to appt when trasferring data

after installing Microsoft Office to my new laptop i imported my data
(personal folders, calendar, contacts etc) my calender is changed from events
to appt and they all run for 24hours and stretch across two days. there is
also a little clock on either side of the beginning and end of the appt. i
have tried everything from uninstalling to deleting and recoping my data into
my outlook data file. i am sure it isn't a currupt file because i
experimented with the old computer and it copied my data exactly like it was
before i deleted it. i am sure it is just a setting, in my outlook calendar
options or somewhere else but i have spent the better part of today trying to
find it. please help!!!!!!

Is the time zone settings the same one each computer?

BTW - no need to import - just open the old pst in your profile and set it
as default. See http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/profile.htm#reuse for
assistance.

depending on what day the origonal was created in. when i create an event i
double click on the day on the monthly view then it pulls up the event window
then i fill in the subject and highlight it then save and close. i have
several events spread out throughout the month and some days have several
events. when i trasferred data from on computer to the other the events were
changed to appts and they all last exactly 24hours which stretchs the strip
that i is highlighted accross two days with a clock icon on each side of the
strip.

also i think i did trasfer my data the way you discribed. i literally tried
every way i could think in hopes that the setting would change somehow. i am
sure this issue is a setting or something. is there some way to bulk all the
appts and create some kind of a rule to change them back to events?

nevermind.......... i just realized what you asked me about the time zone. i
thought you asked me about the time slot and if all the events were in the
same time slot i reread and changed it to the same timezone as the old
computer and wala it put everything back to the way it was supposed to be and
changed the apptments back to events.

thanks

Is the time zone correct on the new computer? if not, export the calendar to
excel or a CSV and correct the time zone, then import them back. (Make a
second calendar folder and move the existing ones to it before you import
them back - then delete it once you are sure everything is correct.)
