Why can't Word edit PDF's?

Other office suites can publish and edit PDF's. It would be a great feature
to add on. Is there a reason that the feature is not there? I hope the excuse
is that this is only beta 1 because that is a feature wanted by many people.

I don't know which version you're talking about but Office 2007 will be able
to create .pdf files. I don't think any word processors edit .pdf files.

For now, you can download free .pdf creating software and MS has a KB
article about how to convert a .pdf to Word.

I am talking about Office 2007, and its great that is has a publish to .pdf
feature, but editing them would be a step even higher. The new Corel Office
Suite X3 can open, edit, and publish to .pdf. I think this is something
Office 2007 should have.

Yeah, I could get free .pdf creating and editing software but its so much
better to have it all in one place. Why have two different applications if
you only need one?

I have Acrobat and a freebie. I don't find it difficult to create a .pdf.
Print - change the driver. (And that's assuming I don't already have it set
as the default driver.)
