I have windows xp with a cd burner.. I also have the windows media player. I
liked a cd that a friend had so I copied it, cd to cd. It also went into the
media library. When I tried to make a copy from the media library for my
car, it didn't play on the car cd player. It was one continuous file,
instead of like 9 files for separate songs, and also, I found out it will
play on my computer, but it won't play in my car, although other cd's that
were burned plays in my car. My question is why?

Possibly you're trying to play and *.mp3 file on a car cd player that
doesn't support it.

Look at the cd with Windows explorer to see if it's a data disk rather than
an audio disk.

If it's an *.mp3 file you could need to use something like Nero or Roxio to
create an Audio cd, from the *.mp3 file.

Lol, you're forgiven. But don't we make it hard
sometimes??? I do.

Could this have been a multi session copy protected CD? Perhaps his PC only
copied the first session?

That is probably more like it...what is that? How do I change it or can I? I
know the difference between cd-r's and cd-rw, and I have cd-r.s. The car
radio I have supports playing of cd-r...like I said, other cd's I've burned
plays in my car radio. This cd however is one long continuous file rather
than separate files for each song.

My understanding is that one method of copy protection puts some computer
data in the first session and the music in a second session. Most audio CD
players skip the data session and play the music, but PC CD writers see the
first session and only copy that. Many CD burning programs like Ahead Nero
Burning ROM allow you to examine ALL the sessions on a CD. You can decide
what you need to copy to the new one.

Having said that some car players _are_ sensitive to the make of CDR so the
above might not be the problem. If you can play the copy you already made
anywhere else for example then it might be the media.

Of course you should only copy CDs that you have copyright to :-)

These are CD's I bought, but just want another copy to have in my car. It's
my understanding that Windows Media Player downloads the proper licenses
from the internet. I have friends that are in that business, and have all
alerted me to...ummmm...well call as it is....stealing music:)
