Not sure in your case of course, but it is possible to get rid of those
annoying little "helpers", by deleting the Actors folder in the Office
Directory (somewhere). If that has been done, there's
no way to get them bad, other than reinstalling them (but why would anyone
want to do that ?)
I think the 'actors' folder was last used in Word 97. It doesn't appear
relevant to current installations.
Detect and repair would probably work, but a better plan would be to re-run
Office setup from Control panel Add or Remove Programs and remove the
Assistant. Complete the installation, then repeat and add it again.
As for annoying, then that depends on the level of activity you allow the
help assistant to provide. Certainly it is an easy access to the help file
and it can be programmed in vba to provide user interaction
