Why can't I see .zip files when I try to attach files to emails

Whenever I try to attach a .zip file to an outlook email message, outlook
will not show them to me. I can see them on the hard drive via windows
explorer but outlook will not show them when trying to attach a file.

Even if you specify file type All Files (*.*) ?

yes. that's what i have selected and it still won't show them in the file
attachment window of outlook. i can go through windows explorer to the file,
right click and "send to mail recipient" and it'll attach them to a email for
me but it does not include my signature, etc....
