Why Can't a Business Contact be Associated with more than one acco

I have many clients who have more than one account with me. So I want to
have my client be linked to more than one account. The problem is that once
I create an account and link it to my client in my business contact list, I
can create another account and link it to the same client. The client
disappears from the business contacts list. If I link the client to a
different account he disappears from the first account.

Accounts are intended to be the organizations clients work for. Have
you tried using Projects instead of Accounts?

ocbizlaw,

This "only-1-Account-per-contact" linking limitation is a stupid and
unforgiveable functionality oversight provided to you courtesy of BCM tech-
geek designers who have zero apparent real world experience in the realm of
sales and business relationships. This sorry limitation has existed for over
4 years with excuses about it "intended" to be this and "intended" to be that.
The truth is, no SW developer actually goes about "intending" to crippled
with silly oversights like this. This kind of design oversight is cluelessly
done without intention and then plenty of rationalized excuses are made up
later by the marketing apologists.

There are alternatives to BCM if you decide you are not willing to live
within some of these bone-headed limitations like this. Check out
www.avidian.com. You can multiple link away to your heart's content. All of
this functionality is technically feasible. MS just hasn't bothered yet with
either figuring it out or actually making improvements like this more of a
timely priority.

Such is the ongoing, cobbled-together crazy maker known as BCM.

Best wishes,

-THP

I have one client who owns seven companies. Each company gets its own
invoices, pays its bills, owns different properties and has multiple projects
associated with it. So each company is an account. Each company has
multiple projects going at any one time, each company gets a separate bill,
has different bank accounts at different banks, hasdifferent business lenders
and has different people working for it that don't work for the other
companies.

The only common thread among the companies is that the stock of each is
owned by one of my business contacts whom I cannot associate with the seven
companies he owns because he can be associated with only one account. I
cannot merge the accounts and use projects because each company is a distinct
legal entity totally unrelated to the other companies except that the stock
of each company is owned by one guy.

Does this make any sense? It is so common to have multiple ventures owned
by one individual or holding company that I can't believe Microsoft has put
this limitation in its software. Do you think they are trying to force us to
buy something else?

I've just discovered another wierd thing about BCM. If my tasks are project
tasks, my office mates can see them on their computers as tasks listed under
me. But they are project tasks, they don't sync on my windows 5.0 phone.
Tasks will only sync with my phone if they are regular outlook tasks rather
than BCM tasks.

But if they are just regular outlook tasks, rather than business tasks, my
office mates can't see my tasks on their computers under project tasks. So I
have to choose between having a task list that syncs with my phone and a task
list that others in my office can see (I guess unless I buy an exchange
server or something).

So weird.

The Chapura sync solution "Pocket Mirror for WM" has a conduit that will sync
your BCM Project task folder into your mobile device task list where they
will be included along with the other native Outlook tasks on your device.

Dear,

I also have the same thing on my MS BCM wishlist.
