Why aren't all the icons in Mail not accessible?

I am taking classes in Microsoft 2007 but some of the tools I am using are
not availabe in my version of Outlook 2007. The icons are there in the ribbon
but are not accessible. Is there something I need to do to activate them? Are
there different versions of Outlook 2007?

There is only a single version of Outlook 2007
You can modify your toolbar, if you are taking classes, ask there, I'm sure
they will demonstrate
