why are some file names in blue font in windows explorer

Can anyone tell me why some file names are in blue when
looking at files in windows explorer in windows xp home??

Thanks, it has been bugging me forever and have not been

those are compressed files (zipped)
goto folder options and view tab and
uncheck next to last entry in listing (at the bottom)
[_] show encrypted and compressed files in color.

XP will compress seldom used files to save drive space. It will
decompress as they are needed.

Take a look in Windows Explorer under Tools - Folder Options - View. Odds
are, there is a check in the box to "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files
in color".
