Why are my active outlook emails on my desktop disappearing?

I had a laptop that I used Outlook on. I purchased a new desktop and have
copied my outlook pst files onto and have been using outlook on my desktop
for 2 weeks. Today, when I turned on my laptop to look for a missing email,
all my inbox emails uploaded to my laptop and have disappeared from my
desktop inbox. Why? My desktop is on an exchange server - does that have to
do with this? I want all my outlook info on the desktop as the laptop is
ready to die. Right now, all my emails have disappeared from the desktop and
are on the laptop, but the file folders on the desktop are more current.
What is happening, why and how do I get my emails back on my desktop?

Probably because you didn't go into the properties of the mail account you
had set up in there, and tell it to either leave a copy of all messages on
the server, or to not check your mail account at all, I'm guessing. Or you
were checking an Exchange account and had it set to deliver to PST for some
reason (there is no good reason for that, tho).

Nope.

If you can copy the PST file (with OL closed) to your desktop, you can open
the PST file using file | open.... and then copy in what you wish to the
Exchange mailbox.
