I'm clicking in a cell and the cells below it are also being highlighted,
maybe 4 or 5 cells below. This is very annoying, particularly when trying to
select cells to go into a formula. Can anybody tell me how to stop it doing
this please?

Thank you.

I'm having this same issue! Tried the solutions given by Jacob. Didn't solve
the probem. When I try to click a cell it selects that cell and the 8 below
it. Somebody please help. Possible glitch in software?

Thanks,
Steve

If Excel 2007, try setting the Zoom level a couple of points higher or
lower.

I noticed that it changes and stops doing it when I scroll up and down one or
two clicks with the mouse wheel. This leads me to believe it's some type of
glitch in the software. I'm guessing there is someway to notify microsoft of
this problem?

One solution that worked for me was to reselect and SET the PRINT AREA. For
some reason the program was confused with respect to which cells I wanted to
select, but when I re-established the print area the multiple cell selection
disappeared and only returned a single selected cell.
