Why are local shares in "My Network Places"

I created a local network when I added another computer.
This caused the Shared Documents folder to be shared on
the network as SharedDocs and is showing up in my
"My Network Places" folder. Why are local shares showing
up in a network share folder and when I list it using
a Detail view, the computer field shows it as Unknown.
I am running Norton Internet Security 2004 behind a
Linksys router and all the computers in the router's
subnet (192.168.1....) are configured as trusted hosts.
Anyone else seen this?
