Why Are All Accounts Merged?

I'm trying to set-up 3 Email accounts. Ex: Ted, Jon, Ken. I made all three
then tested them for send / recieve. I can recieve mail, the problem is,
what ever account I'm logged into, the mail for all 3 accounts can be seen.
This did not happen in Outlook. I only saw mail for the specific account I'm
in. If I'm signed into Ted and send an Email to Jon & Ken, they will get it
and shows it came from Ted. But if I sign into Jon and send an email to Ted
and Ken, it shows also that it came from Ted, instead of Jon. Is anyone
familiar wih this problem? Also is there an import feature that allows you
to save the old Outlook mailbox accounts so that the old mail you want to
keep will not be lost?

Windows Mail uses just one set of folders, such as the Inbox, to hold the
mail from all the email accounts you add. It expects you to use separate
Vista user accounts, and set up Windows Mail separately for each of
them, if you have accounts you need to keep separate.

To bring in the mail from Outlook, you have two choices: 1. Install
Outlook,
preferably version 2003 or more recent, on your new computer. Windows
Mail needs to use part of it to be able to understand the mail files from
Outlook. 2. First, bring the messages from Outlook into Outlook Express
on your old computer. Then bring the messages from Outlook Express
into Windows Mail.

Bring along the .wab file if you also want your old contacts. After you
copy
the files to a directory on your new computer, but before you import them
into Windows Mail, make sure the copies are read-write instead of readonly.

This may also help you move the messages to Windows Live Mail, which
does have a separate set of folders for each account, since Windows Live
Mail also has problems importing the messages directly from Outlook,
but easily imports them from Windows Mail. If you need the details on
this, you could probably get them faster in this newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

...This did not happen in Outlook.

You're not using Outlook, are you?

A1. Are the three (3) accounts aliases for one (1) mailbox? If so, you'll
need to use Message Rules
(http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2006/11/27/create-message-rules-in-windows-mail-vista/)
to avoid the behavior you describe.

The following refers to two addresses, but you should be able to follow it
and amend for three or more.

(e-mail address removed) and (e-mail address removed) are aliases for one Mail Account (mailbox). In
the log-on associated with (e-mail address removed), create a Message Rule stating, "Where
To or CC contains (e-mail address removed), Do not download it from the server" and place
this rule at the very top of the list.

Then create a similar rule for the log-on associated with (e-mail address removed)
directing any messages addressed to (e-mail address removed) not to be downloaded from the
server.

A2. Yes, you can import your OL data into Windows Mail...*if* OL is also
installed *and* it's using the PST file containing the messages you want to
import.
