Who's in the .ldb first?

The problem is this: If a read only user logs into the
database 1st (i.e. writes the .ldb file 1st) then everyone
can get on. If a full data user logs in 1st (i.e. writes
the .ldb file 1st) then the read only users can't get in.
They get the error, Could not use'Admin': File already in
use.

All users have reade/write/delete access to the folder
where the database is stored.

Do you know the fix?

It looks like you have set users as "read only" by means of windows file
security. Is this correct? If so, you will need to redo that. All users must
have full permissions on the FOLDER that the database is stored in. You can
set the actual file to Read Only for certain users, however.

Thanks Lynn but I've checked and all users have the exact
same windows file security. This might be a "duh" but
my .mdw file was not moved over to the common folder -
once moved, it was fixed. I only moved the backend -
Thanks again!

If the .mdw file you secured the database with isn't there, then your users
are logging on using the .mdw file on their hard drive and that's a pretty
good indication that your security wasn't set up correctly. You put a lock
on the front door, but forgot to turn the key...<g>
