White Space between Records

Hi all

I know this is probably very easy, but I am stumped. I have a report that
lists, very simply:

Date Department Name
Department2 Name 2
etc. for a maximum of 9 departments. Not all fields contain information -
so, in some cases, I have large gaps of white space between the end of the
first "Date" and the beginning of the next "Date". I have checked Can
Shrink, Grow, etc. for each field, and for the report's detail. Still huge
white gaps....can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks

Judy

The pertinent Property is CanShrink, which should be set to Yes for both the
Controls and for the Sections in which those Controls reside. It does not,
repeat NOT, shrink any white space that you have in your design between and
around controls, only the controls themselves.

Thanks Larry - I have checked and rechecked. CanShrink is set to Yes for
each control and for the section (Detail) that contains them.

I cant figure out what I am missing.

Thanks Larry - I have checked and rechecked.
CanShrink is set to Yes for each control and
for the section (Detail) that contains them.

From your description of "large areas of white space", I presume that there
are no other unshrunken controls alongside... if there is any unshrunken
control alongside, the CanShrink will not take effect... and that would
include, AFAIK, graphic controls such as line and rectangle, also.

On the other hand, it may be simpler to re-create the report and use just
the minimum of everything to make sure that the shrinking is working, first,
then add any embellishments, later.
