I have VS.Net 2003 and I want to write applications to HP
Jornada 720s that run Windows CE 3.0. Can I use VB.Net to
write the applications for them or do I need to use the
embedded VB toolkit? Or maybe the Pocket PC 2002 SDK or
maybe even the Pocket PC 2003 SDK? I'm new to mobile
devices and don't have a clue on where to start. I would
greatly appreciate any help offered.

Dave

The CF is not supported on HPC 2000 devices (which is what the 720 is).

Thanks for the info. So should I use eVB to target these
devices? I have managed to install the Compact Framework
on one and run a simple program but now the Jornada locks
up for no reason. Guess I'll have to give up on the
Compact Framework for these things.

Dave

Yes, eVB is the only VB solution (though NSBASIC is another BASIC solution).

Thanks for the info. There's a lot to learn here. I
downloaded the embedded tools and the sdk for the handheld
PCs but it doesn't come with an emulator for the Jornada.
Does anyone know where I can find this and then get the
visual tools program to recognize it as a target?

Dave

There is no emulator for the HPC 2000 either. You need to debug with a
physical device.
