Which version of dotnet?

I run Secunia PSI to check for needed updates & it reports that my copy of
Microsoft.NET Framework 2.x is not up to date.
This surprised me as I know I have installed Framework 3. A quick check
shows that Framework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 are installed. Can I uninstall the
earlier versions?

I'm running XP Pro

I would definately NOT uninstall 2.0
There are still programs that use this version.

The latest service pack was introduced with 3.5. There is also an SP for
3.0 for 3.5. You can run .NET 2.0 with 3.0 (without 3.5) without all of the
lastest patches (the latest service pack).
