I had a crash and was unable to boot so I installed a 2nd
copy of Windows XP which I labeled Windows1. After
booting I reinstalled or moved all the software and data.
Everything is working OK but I need to get rid of the
junk I created. I do not know which version of Windows
is being used so I don't know what to remove. If I
rename the wrong one and it won't boot I don't know how
to proceed at that point. I know how to use the tools to
repair the system but I would like help on what procedure
to follow. Thanks.

Hi Dick.

Click start/run, type cmd and click ok. Type PATH and hit <enter>. This will
show you the location of the current system installation. You can delete the
system folders belonging to the old installation. Chances are, you will not
be allowed to delete any part of the current installation as those files
will be in use.
