which upgrade?

Start/run winver

If SP1 is installed, it will say so on the build.

Right Click on "My Computer" icon > select properties > System
Properties :- it will be displayed here.

go to command prompt. Type winver and hit return.
The name of the os comes up plus the service pack number.
If you are xp it should say service pack 1 or 1a....
