Which protocols & bindings?

I need to maintain connection to a Novell Neware 3.2 server, so I have to
have IPX/SPX on a couple of my machines. But on machines that don't connect
to Netware, if I disable the IPX/SPX protocol, *or* the NWLink, I can no
longer print from an XP machine to another XP machine.

Obviously I've got TPC/IP loaded, along with Client for Microsoft Windows &
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Windows.

I would have thought that I could maintain pure TCP/IP across the Windows XP
machines (the ones that don't need to connect to Netware) and be fine, but,
as mentioned, anything I do to limit IPX/SPX kills printing. And yes, I did
unbind IPX/SPX, which, I'd thought, would force Windows to use the remaining
TCP/IP binding.

Thanks for any help-

Expand a bit more..
Is it configured in such a way to allow File and Print Sharing - even if
just on the same subnet?

Your machines were using IPX/SPX to communicate with each other before -
because the Windows Firewall doesn't affect that protocol. Now that the
protocol is gone on the machines with the printers - they are sharing using
pure TCP/IP. If the Windows Firewall has not been configured to allow this
type of traffic - it isn't going to occur.

Shenan: Thanks, I'll look and see what the firewall's settings are. Silly me
to think that Windows Firewall would let you figure this one out easily!
