When I press control-alt-delete, there is a list of running processes, but
it is often difficult to tell from the name given, which program is using or
causing the process. Is there some way to get more complete information
about the processes?

If you're curious to know more about the processes running on
your computer, the sites I've listed below should be helpful.
If you're concerned about any of the processes and are
considering taking steps to prevent them from running, you
might want to seek advice on one of these newsgroups before
taking any action.

WinTasks Process Library

TASK LIST PROGRAMS

If you're using XP Professional, you can open a command prompt
(Start -> Run -> cmd.exe) and enter tasklist /svc to see what
processes are being run under each svchost entry. If you're
using XP Home, you can download and run this program to get
more info on those entries.

Process Explorer for Windows v10.21

Good luck
