I would like to build a linux system, and I am looking
for a motherboard with the following specs:
- Support AMD Athlon XP, up to 400 MHz FSB.
- RAID on SATA, perhaps also on IDE.
- Compatible with linux
- If possible no chipset fan (lower noise)
- I would like to be able to regulate (from the BIOS) the CPU, and
perhaps
system, fan speed, so that when the CPU is cool due to light load,
the CPU
fan slows down to reduce noise.
After some investigation, it seems the Giga-Byte GA-7N400 Pro2 fits the
bill,
aside from having a chipset fan. I don't know whether it works well
with
linux, however.
Are there other suggestions? Thanks!
