Hi all,
I have just recently installed a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ processor with new
motherboard. This was to replace an ageing 1.4ghz athlon.
I upgraded to try and get a vast improve in overall system performance,
which I must say, I am very impressed with it.
My step dad has asked me to put some of his video files onto a dvd for him
for a presentation for his course work.
Now, I took it upon myself to try out the video encoding software that came
with my dvd burner (Pinnacle 8 or something), but am I am totally disgusted
that it is taking roughly the same amount of time to encode as it did with
my old processor.
Can anyone recommend a fast video encoder? The one I tried out was to
convert divx to dvd but for about 80 minutes of encoding plus a menu it was
taking well over 4 hours!
I also tried out the demo version of Nero's encoder (Nero recode I think it
was called), but this kept mucking up on me - it encoded the first file then
most of the 2nd one, then died a horrible death. So don't think I'll be
buying anything from Ahead Software!
I'm running the beta of windows XP64 if that helps, but I'd rather keep this
as the pc seems to be far faster using this.
Also, I have 768mb DDR Ram
Cheers, Scott
