WHICH CARD

J

I have a Dell Dimension 4400 with a P-4 1.6g and a ATI 16mb Rage 128.
I bought my daughter a video game to play on the PC. After installing
it, I went to launch it and the screen went blank and I got the
Microsoft error message. I then checked the minimum requirements for
the game and it said "3D accelerator 32mb video card".
Any recommendations for a cheap card that will fit these requirements?
Thanks in advance.

The game is "Shrek 2 Team Action". I don't think it's all that
involved, though it does require the 32mb video card.
My computer does have an AGP slot.

If it's an AGP 4X/8X slot, there are a bunch of cards for under
$50.00 USD that will run that game. Most have 128MB of ram.

Look at Nvidia 5200's. $60 bucks will move you into the Nvidia
5500/ATI Radeon 9550 class.

The requirements for that game are fairly low end -
800 mhz CPU,128mb RAM, and 32mb graphics card.
There nothing specified about it needing DirectX
shaders etc ... a Radeon 9200 or Nvidia 5200 will do fine.
Just avoid models labeled SE or LE - a waste of money.

it says direct X 9.0b, yes it will run on a 9200, but the 5200 would
be a better choice.

The 9200 is not DX9 compliant so it won't show all the eye candy. Better go
with the 5200.
