I've read every bit of info on SP2 installations that has
been on this NG since it was made available. I D/L'd the
long network version several days ago (thank goodness for
broadband) and continued to sit on it until I decided that
my system was definitely in the low risk category.

So, about 5 hours ago, I hit the go button, genuflected and
waited. 24 minutes later, it was done. Though I haven't had
a chance to try every one of my apps. the most used have
been tested and all seems exactly as it was before. The only
obvious thing that it did was to remove my Windows Media
Player from my desktop and put it in the Quick Launch
section of my taskbar. That was easily reversed and all is
well.

I disabled the firewall, preferring to use my Sygate; dito
Automatic Updates (I'm very conciencious about doing updates
every other day) and darned if it didn't even recognise my
Trend Micro PC-cillin AV program. Even ViewKeyXP works!
Someone said that was not working after his SP2 install.

One quick question: I opted to turn off the IE Pop Up
Blocker. My" Pop Up Stopper" has worked fine. Anyone care to
comment on the new one in IE vs. others available?

It doesn't work for me. It runs, and it displays *a* product key, but the
key is not the actual key I used to install Windows, and it isn't valid for
installing Windows.

However, I find that Belarc Advisor continues to report the correct key:

Hmm, it displays the only key that it ever has and is
corroborated by Magic Jelly Bean Finder. The same key that
is on the label on my computer. My XP is an OEM version
installed by the mfr., Micron.

Join the ranks of the many. Most are able to apply SP2 with no or just
a few minor issues to resolve.

Bizarrely, it's just started working again for me. I'm certain it wasn't
working the first time I tried it after installing SP2.

Ah well, it's not too important. I still have my CoA. :)
