Where's the Explorer Bar?

Hi there.

Hopefully an easy one, but after a search through the archives, I can't find
the answer...

In Windows Vista, How to I get the folder view in Windows Explorer?

On Windows XP, it would come up normally by right clicking, and chosing
explore, or could be forced using View > Explorer Bar > Folders

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it was included in the public Beta 2, but the folder view is
in later builds and shows up by default, even though the favourites panel
remains at the top and needs to be dragged out of the way.

http://blogs.dasmirnov.net/media/folderview.jpg that's from build 5472.

If it was in Beta 2, and if the navigation pane isn't open click Organize ->
Layout -> Navigation in which case the folder view may be minimized at the
bottom of the panel, just click and drag it open.

Eep.

By "toolbar buttons", I take it you mean the bit in what used to be the
address bar that changes depending on what folder you're in?

Does it have all the functionality of the explorer bar? For instance, how do
you take a group of files from one folder, and move them to a different
folder tree (not further up the same folder)?

Thanks for the reply, Paul.

On the basis that I haven't got all the organize line of buttons (or find a
way of turning them on), I'm guessing it's not in the b2 build. I'll sit
tight, and hope it re-appears in the RC build.

Yeah, the buttons just above the icons folder. The Explorer bar has been
replaced by a Navigation pane. If you don't see the Navigation pane click
the Organize button and choose Layout > Navigation pane. Or in earlier
builds click Layout > Navigation Pane.

By default the Navigation panes just shows links to whatever resrouces you
make links to. To see the Folders list click Folders at the bottom of the
Navigation pane.

Yes, everything you could do in XP you can still do in Vista. The Folder
list is still there in Vista, just not the original Explorer bar. But to get
to the folder list you have to open the Navigation pane if it's closed (I
think you click Layout and choose Navigation Pane in B2). Then click Folders
at the bottom of that pane. Then you can select your files and drag them
anywhere into the folder list. Or to one of the links in the top pane,
whichever is most convenient.

ALT+F, ALT+V, ALT+? worh just fine in beta 2 build 5384 by revealing XP type
menu bar

(I'd attach a screen capture but don't really know if that is a fine thing
to do.)

Yes but the "Folder options" button which the OP was talking about that
turns on the folder list isn't hooked into the menus anymore.

My folders show up on the left side of the Windows Explorer just under the
Favorites List.
These are resizable "Split Type" Screens.
