I lost my address book from outlook express. The only
thing I believe may have caused it was in Internet
Options/Programs I changed my contacts to address book or
MS Outlook or visa versa. How can I get it back into
Outlookk Express??

Expand on "I lost my address book", please.

You changed your default Mail Client to Outlook in IE Tools>Internet
Options>Programs?

Can you use OE at all? With OE open, does CTRL+SHIFT+B open Address Book?
If so, go to Address Book Help>About> Is a location listed in the file
window or is it blank?

Is MS Outlook (or Office) also installed?

the address book in OE now is empty, I was in IE earlier
and in Tool/Internet Options/Programs, I changed to
contacts from adress book to outlook now all my contacts
are gone

Can you change the default back to Address Book, Dave? Is MS Outlook or
Office also installed?[/QUOTE]

I tried that without success, yes Outlook & Office
installed. I have taken care of the problem like I have
so many times before, in some unusual way. I did find the
original address book with all my contacts, I highlighted
each one , (holding control key), and highlighted on my
name I had put in the empty one, right click/ paste and I
had to ok a "Dialogue Window??" for each name, about 30,
and that placed them in there. Sometime I just don't
know, I try some crazy and it works. What I need to learn
is "Import" & "Export", that option was available but I
could not get it to work. Thanks for your help. Dave L.

yes Outlook & Office are installed

Second time's the charm! <G>

Start>Run>Regedit>OK> Do you have this Registry key?...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Software
\Microsoft
\WAB
\WAB4

Is there a DWORD named UseOutlook and is its value set to 1?

If so, Address Book is configured to share contacts with Outlook, even
if you don't use it (can happen with the install of Office). Change the
value to 0 (zero), Address Book should be available to you and all should be
well. (If that DWORD is not present, don't create it.)
