Where to find free colour profiles for different ink/printer combinations?

Has anyone set up a database of colour profiles for various
printer/ink/paper combinations? I know that many serious users have profiles
made professionally; are they shared anywhere? It seems like a good idea...

I'm going to be using Hobbicolor ink in a Canon ip4200 with Staples Photo
Supreme Lustre and Matte papers. I suppose I'll just be experimenting for
the right settings if I can't find a scientifically accurate profile. Thanks
everyone.

Good profiles for 3rd party inks and papers for free are an extremely
rare thing. Most lower to middle end software/hardware specifically
prohibits profiling for more than a specific machine(s) and the pro
versions that do allow mult-user profiles are sold to people making a
living profiling. Try the ink and or paper manufacturer (and if they
have them they will probably be very limited in terms of
paper/ink/machines combinations. Canon is coming out with a high end
printer with built in profiling. The other alternatives are have
profiles done profesionally for the papers you use 30-100 USD, which
works out well if you only use a few papers and rendering intents. Or,
purchase profile software/hardware. And from experience avoid the
scanner based software solutions: inadequate at best and extremely
frustrating at worst.
