Microsoft wants to charge me $60 just so I can download the hotfix for
KB889320... Bunch of jackasses... (and yes, I've read their policy, etc...
They still want to charge me)

Anyhow, where can I obtain this hotfix?

There is no publicly accessible download location from MS for hotfixes. You
have to go through product support and they give you the link. You can go
hunt on the web for it, but I wouldn't use any purported MS hotfixes or
updates if it didn't come directly from MS.

In the end there is no charge for hotfix if all you mention is needed that
hotfix and the article for it.

"In the end", meaning I have to give credit card info and personal info
before they'll even consider listening to me, and then could just as easily
decide to bill me.

Nah, not Microsoft! Only a company that would pass off something like
Malware as a Critical Update and treat all of its customers as if they
were scum of the earth thieves requiring them to prove they aren't
over and over and over and over would do such an immoral and
underhanded thing.

It is also said that never trust a hotfix unless it comes from
Microsoft. I remember trusting the malware WGA as a critical update
directly from Microsoft one time to find out later that someone had
not been all that truthful and trustworthy about "all" of its.....
What Computing Magazine called "hidden features".

With that said, you can get your hotfix here:

http://thehotfixshare.net/download/...ndows XP/&file=WindowsXP-KB889320-x86-ENU.exe

unless you think Microsoft has more "Integrity" than those offering
the hotfix WITHOUT requiring your credit card info.

Hey Noozer, Hotfixes are free of charge, if you are still needing this
required hotfix call commercial level customer service at 1-800-936-5700 (if
you are an United States customer) and they'll gather your name, number, and
email then they'll ask you what product/program your calling about and all
you have to do is say "I need hotfix KB 889320" and they should be able to
send that out for you no problem and if you need installation support of your
hotfix that is provided free of charge.
