Where to buy components in Florida

M

Marc Koper

I will be visting my aunt in Florida in May. I want to surprise her
with a new build system.

Who can tell me where (cheap) retails are located in the area of Palm
Beach/Boynton Beach where I can buy stuff like MB's, CPU, Cases, HD
etc.?

I do not want to buy this online, as I only will be with her for a
week and want to be able to exchange stuff if it does not work.

I saw that Tiger Direct has an outlet store in the MALL OF THE
AMERICAS. Although this is a bit far, I might visit this shop. Any
experience with this store?

Kind regards,
Marc Koper

Besides the regional stores check out the national sales ads in the
Sunday paper before you go down cause Depot, Max, CUSA, Circuit City
are some of the best places when they have sales on them for memory,
printers, monitors and especially hard disks - example 39 bucks for
160 gig. But of course timing is everything. These are usually the
easiest places to return stuff.

Only second hand, none direct. The second hand information has
been universally negative, especially if your objective is easy
return/replacement of defective material.

Don't do it!
I made this mistake. I built my mom one and took it to her and I became
tech support. I was unlucky enough also to have gotten a bad motherboard in
the one I built her. Time all was said and done I had to drive to her house
which is 150 miles from mine 4 times fixing it twice over bad components and
twice over stuff I could just not walk her threw fixing over the phone.
If I had it to do over I would have just bought her a dell or something
with three years of support.
Unless you want to become support for your aunt Do Not do this!

If you really want to why don't you just order everything online from some
place cheap like www.newegg.com and build it at your house and take it with
you when you go to see her.
