did you mean SP2? its already released and posted on
website.

Does anyone know when Microsoft is releasing the next
service pack?
-----------------------------------------------------

It leads to the page where you can download SP-2 for IT
Pro's ONLY! That means multiple PC's. Is there anyone
here who has gotten the single-user version from Windows
Update? I'm from NY, I don't think it's being deployed
regionally.

wait till the security holes are patched , as well as the bugs.
it's no big deal if you don't use ie or the windows

you could wait couple of more days and windows update/automatic update would
get to your PC.

however, if you are interested to download and install the link give below
would work for Win XP home and pro.

That DOES NOT mean that you can only use that install file if you are
installing SP2 on multiple PC's. If you really want SP2 now, download it
from the IT-Pros page anyway. The warning MS gives you is just their way of
limiting the amount of network traffic going through the MS servers.

Don't believe everthing you read from MS. They have a very long history of
bullsh*tting their customers.
Is there anyone
here who has gotten the single-user version from Windows
Update? I'm from NY, I don't think it's being deployed
regionally.

If you don't want to wait for MS to give it to you, then ignore MS's BS
attempt at behavior modification, and take it from them, and install it
yourself. MS is too cheap to add enough bandwidth at times of high demand,
so they are trying to scare people into turning on Auto Update to save all
their billions of dollars in the bank. Auto Update just adds another couple
of layers of code, that can screw of the patching process. Auto Update uses
BITS, Background Intelligent Transfer Service, to download SP2.

"[T]he nature of BITS is to download using the unused portion of the
bandwidth in a system." -
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/bits_faq.mspx

Which means it will trickle download, and will take forever downloading.

Download the IT install of SP2, it really will do the same thing as Auto
Update and Windows Update, except with less layers of BS to go wrong, and
should be done in less than an hour.

Place md5sum.exe in the same directory as the SP2 installation file, then
open a command prompt. Navigate to the installation directory and type:
