Where is the user login name & password stored?

Many sites prompt through Windows to save a site user name, and then the
corresponding password, "Do you want Windows to remember ....." so that the
next time you visit that same site the user name login is provided in a
pop-up, and sometimes the matching password is already filled in (masked).

Where is this information stored on the computer? Can it be edited when
it's time to delete an older, unused login name??

Thank you for prompt reply. Figured it was something I couldn't get "at".
Can the entire area be cleared, similar to clearing reccent document lists?
I never use it to store a password, but I have a few sites where the user
login gets remembered, and if I have made a typo that gets remembered, too,
and I'd like to fix those.

Sure. Go to Internet Explorer, tools/internet options/content - autocomplete
and select clear passwords. --- Steve
