Where is the dictionary?

I want to keep the dictionary (if there is one central one) backed up. And is there really a central one for both Windows Live Mail
and MS Word, Open Office Swriter, and other programs that use "words". If there isn't, is it possible to link or update them all
so they are synced?

Those three applications do not share a common dictionary (AKA lexicon).
