where is my event logs record???

Hi, all

I got a very strange problem on my windows 2000 server. If i open "Event
Viewer", there is nothing in "Application Log", "Security Log" and "Systme
Log". All logs are blank. It worked perfect previously...i am just wondering
where there is a conflict between recent windows updates and Event Viewer.
Pls suggest how to fix it.. tks!

This happened at my workplace with the exact same
symptoms, after applying SP4 (or at least that we think
caused it). We applied the following post-SP4 hotfix
from Microsoft to correct it.

I had a bad log show up once here at work and was talked
through a way to fix things.

Turns out all I needed to do was copy someone else's log
of the same type and import it into my machine. This took
away the bad log and gave me one that worked. Then it's
just a matter of clearing the imported log so you don't
get confused by events from another machine.
