After restarting my computer, after sucessfully defragging all of my drives
and partitions, with not so much as a hickupp for lets say 6 months. All of
a sudden I am missing an entire drives worth of data. Windows tells me the
drive is physically there, just not formatted, no hints as to why this is the
case either. I am really getting that sinking feeling right now, please tell
me that this in not a complete and total loss!

Hi

Sorry to hear that.

I suggest you leave this to someone who has done a data recovery before.

If you want to do it yourself, all you should need is a spare hard drive
(preferably empty and the same size as the other drive) and Convar's
data recovery software.

I keep my fingers crossed that the hard drive is not faulty, in which
case you should really be able to get all your data back.

Kind Regards

thanks for your reply, and this is encouraging as I have not reformatted yet.
Thanks again, and I will give it a shot.

It sounds like the hard disks's file system has been damaged/corrupted.
I suggest if it's important to you, send it to the nearest data
recovery firm in your area that has a 'no-fix, no fee policy'.

Running data recovery tools and other utils may be helpful but you may
also run the risk of causing more damage and as a result reducing the
chance of getting the data back. Good luck!

P.S Do not run scandisk, checkdisk, defrag, Norton system tools or any
other tools on the disk, you do NOT want to modify the disk at all.
