Hello all,

Where did HyperTerm go? I am using XPHome and have need for a terminal program
to configure a terminal node controller(TNC) for my ham radio and have nothing
installed in XP I can use.. Where can I find it? Is it on the value-added
folder or some obscure location, can I still get it? Can I run a version from
9x?

dyin' here...

Thanks,

TJ

You may need to install it from Add/Remove Programs - Windows Components - Communications - Hyperterminal. Typing hypertrm in Start Run will start it if installed and you deleted the Start menu shortcut.

Add/Remove Programs/Windows Components/Communication

Yes, in fact the 9x version is more compatible with some older
equipment, particularly with regard to F-keys. The 2K/XP versions do not
pass F-key presses to the equipment and I've found no way to make them
do so.

TJ,
What TNC do you have? I might have a 'real' tnc program around and good
in ARRL.NET site too.

Hi Sparky,

It's a KPC3, v5.1. I was trying to use HyperTerm to get it configured, but it's
is not in Accessories/Communications, and there is not an option to reinstall it
in Add/Remove Programs. I have PacTerm, but it is a DOS version and it's really
tough to use with XP. I was hoping to find a Win9x version of HyperTerm, but
all my machines are XP...

Steve,,

It isnt installed anywhere, typed it in Run window when I didnt find it in
Access/Comm menu. It isnt an option in Add/Remove Windows Components,
Communications. Not even in the 'select from' list to check-mark... just isnt
there. XPHome, SP2.

Thanks anyway..

Copy it and it's associated files from another PC (do a search for
hypertrm.*). It doesn't really need to be installed, just copied and run.

You might also do a search for other free telnet software on the web. I
hear there's much better apps out there than Hyperterminal anyway, such
as PuTTY.
