I have no more my shut down button on my Start menu and if i try to shut
down the system i get this message:

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator"

Notice i'm administrator of my PC.

I also tried to restore a system backup point but nothing, i stil have not
the power button, and if i set Classic View of the start menu i have not the
voice "Shut Down..."

Is there a way to restore this or i have to FORMAT!?!?

In Windows Vista there's an useful guide, please USE IT!
Open the start menu -> click on Help and Support -> type: "shut down"

Maybe we should respond to each and every question, Click on Help and
Support. Or Google and you will find your answer!

You are one smart cookie Bill. Suggesting Google and all. I've blocked ya
just in case you think it's a good answer and start replying to all the
questions that way.

Part of the Windoze experience. A shutdown under a "Start" menu. :-)

Once Vista has taken over your computer it does not want to ever have to
stop running. How else can it serve its role in this world - sending out
spam across the Internet?

Microsoft just makes you think you can administer your own PC. Actually it
is now controlled by Microsoft.

Only a toy operating system needs to include a restore capability. Which,
btw, has been reported by another poster to suck up a steady 1GB of hard
drive space per day. Further proof that Microsoft controls your system, not
you.

I think you missed his point.

My shut down, restart, hibernate and sleep options have also
disappeared. I've been using Vista for a month and they were there,
but now they have disappeared! It's quite weird. I suspect it might be
a virus.

So.... Is there any way to make that damn button reapear? I got the same
problem and i can tell you that it really sucks. I have to Log Off and then
press restart each time. Not very usefull.

You've seen the responses in this thread, Vince -- read the ****ing
manual and don't mention Google.

The Microsoft shills in this group are not here to help you. They are
here to tell you that you are wrong if you think you have a problem with
Vista.

Well, very helpful Mr. Charlie. So what the hell is that forum for if
it's not for helping people with Vista?
And why shouldn't I mention Google, am i not posting in a Google
group?
And what ****ing manual are you talking about/ If you mean the Vista
manual i already looked in it and there is nothing talking about
Microsoft controlling your computer and take your administrators
rights. Because i know they did that, and that's why i don't have my
shutdown button, and i can't have access to my registery and task
manager either.
So my question is, why did they do that, i know how my computer works,
i don't need them to check on me and block my administrator rights!
And i bought that ****ing Vista copy from them anyway, so i can do
whatever i want with it now, so why wont they stop bugging me with
their damn security things, i've got my own and i dont want theirs.
So i'm not saying Vista has a problem Charlie, i'm saying what
Microsoft did with my administrator rights sucks, and they wont even
tell me why they did that. So if you're not there to help me
understand what happened, you can go to hell! What's the point of
making that forum if it's not for helping others!
Thanks anyway.

This is a forum to discuss the merits of Windows Vista. Complaints are
not welcome or appropriate.
And why shouldn't I mention
Google,

Google is a self-serving, monopolistic corporation using unfair business
practices to undermine legitimate technology companies. Think of it this
way: every time you use Google, you are stealing food off the table of a
Microsoft shareholder.

am i not posting in a Google group?

No, you are posting on Usenet through a Google interface. Usenet was
invented in the 1970s so people in bomb shelters could stay in touch with
each other in case of a nuclear holocaust. Enter the keywords "Usenet
history" on your favorite non-Google search engine if you want more
details.

I hardly think so, my friend. You didn't read your license agreement,
did you? I suggest you do so now. By purchasing and installing Windows
Vista, you agree to tether your PC to a license server, which will
monitor your ongoing compliance with the license agreement and disable
your system should it perceive a violation. This monitoring process will
continue for as long as you continue to use Vista.

If you have a problem with that, you shouldn't be running Vista at all.

I'm sorry you don't like this group. I can only suggest you return
Windows Vista for a refund and choose a different OS.
