Where has my menu/toolbar gone?

As a result (I think) of running the wondows update and
installing the updates, I've lost all the menus and the
toolbar from IE. The box for typing in web addresses has
gone too.

Any suggestions how I can get them back or is it a case of
reinstalling IE? If I reinstal IE will I lose all my
favourites?
