IE6 toolbar settings gone after reboot

Celad

Hi:

Whenever I reboot my machine (XP Home Edition V2002 SP1)
and launch IE6, my previous IE toolbar customizations are
gone. E.g., the Standard Buttons toolbar is reset (the
buttons I had removed using the Customize Toolbar dialog
box are back and in their default sequence), the Links
toolbar is back (I had unchecked it) and the Google
toolbar is gone (I know, it's 3rd party). I ran Ad-Aware
and also down-loaded and ran Spybot, to no avail. Can
anyone help?

Thanks for your attention...

Celad,

Note: "AUTOTKIT.EXE" from HP is known to cause Toolbar resets.

Thanks for the input, Mike. Sorry, though, it didn't work.
Now there's an additional problem: the toolbars act locked
(won't budge) even when "Lock the Toolbars" is unbchecked
and the handles are showing. (I did a search for
AUTOKIT.EXE and it's not on my machine.)

Celad,

It's actually 'AUTOTKIT.EXE', as Mike said. Also, see if this is your issue:
Toolbars are locked - Unable to customize toolbar and tool band:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFAQ.htm

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
Backup the key and delete both "NoBandCustomize" and
"NoToolbarCustomize" values in the right pane.
