I've had to do a clean XP install. How do I import the Address Book for
Outlook from the backups? I'm on version 2003 (11.6359.6350) SP1.

Many thanks,

Ed

Look for files with a *.PST or *.PAB extension.

*.PST = Contains all of your mail, calendar, tasks, journal, contacts, .etc

*.PAB = Is a legacy personal address book that isn't used by default under
Outlook 2000 and newer. (This is when the contacts folder started
supporting distribution lists.)

Thanks - I've located these on a Backup.
However Outlook seems to want to import everything and not just the
address book part.
It has a subtler filter for importing Outlook Express data files but
not Outlook.
What do I do next?

Thanks,

Ed

Don't import. Use File>Open>Personal Folders File, browse to the PST,
select it, and click OK. You can then move the items you wish to keep and
ignore everything else.

In File>Open all I have is:

Selected Items
Other User's Folders (greyed out)
Outlook Data Files

This one is what you use. I misread what version of Outlook you're using.
