I have an unusual problem for which I'm at a loss to start looking for
it's source. I have found that several different programs that are
normally 100% reliable programs will be running doing there thing & then
just disappear from the screen. For instance I can be rendering a video
file. This can take hours. The program might have been running for an
hour & the job progress is being reported. The next time I look the
program is no longer on the screen. There is no error message & the
program hasn't rebooted. The same thing happened when I was
transferring data to my minidisc.

All software is up to date including anti virus & anti spyware & these
are run daily. Where do I look for the problem?

Check event viewer for items that have happened during the time
interval in question (e.g. between the last time you saw the
application running normally and when you first noticed that it was
gone). Right-click on My Computer and select Manage.

Good luck
