Where did my color inks go?

All printers use some color ink alll the time . some for black and some to
keep the nozzle open

If your ears are sharp you will hear the auto-clean function
of Brother MFCs (at least once a week, when switched on.)
This process uses ink from all cartridges.

If the OP needs more detail, he might tell us how long each
cartridge lasted (a) in days (b) in total pages printed.
Brother manuals promise only about 600 pages per cartridge.
