Where can I just buy Access 2007?

As far as I know, each software component of Microsoft Office is sold
separately. You should be able to find it at the electronics/computer
superstores (Fry's Electronics, Micro Center, Comp USA, etc.), local
computer shops, or at online software shops (Amazon, eBay, Egghead, etc.).
If you are looking for a "back version", e.g., Access 2003, you may have to
find it on auction sites, etc..

As far as I know, each software component of Microsoft Office is sold
separately, as well as being included in various packagings of Microsoft
Office editions. Better? I'm not sure I agree with your idea that "is"
implies "always", though. Tony Toews is a practicioner of Access doesn't
indicate that you aren't also into amateur radio, or that you aren't also
into girl-watching, or ... <GRIN>

separately? Wasn't there something called OneNote that has now been
abandoned that was once available only as part of one of the Office
suites?

The big apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) have always
been available separately, and I expect always will be, though it's
likely to be cheaper to get something like Outlook along with
Word/Excel, in one of the stripped-down basic Office suites
(whatever they're designating it these days).

I was unaware that OneNote had been abandoned. I'm running the 2007
version. And I love it. It is one of more versatile pieces of
software for tracking misc type of notes.

OneNote is not abandoned. It is still available, both by itself and as part
of Office Ultimate or Office Enterprise.

OK, maybe it wasn't. I never used it, but I think there were some of
these secondary apps from early Office suites that were abandoned in
Office 2007.

Not so much abandoned, as separated from as individual apps and included in
the Ultimate and Enterprise editions. I can't think of one app that was
available in an earlier product that isn't available today (other than
perhaps Photo Editor).
