Where Are the LPT Ports?

Hi,

Here we have a new pc (XP Home Edition) without an onchip parallel
port..
And we have a dos-based program that needs a Parallel Port to Print
out..
And a printer: Epson FX-1170

i bought a pci - parallel card to solve this problem.. "NetMos 9805
1Port (SPP/EPP/ECP) PCI Printer Card" i used the cd within the box to
install the driver.
Does it seems like Everything's ok ?

Well, when i try to add a new printer with printer wizard, there's no
LPT ports !..

There's no documents nor a web page about the product..

i need to use lpt1 or lpt2 to print out via that dos-based program..
but how?

I would suggest going to the control panel, double clicking on
"System", and seeing if the Device Manager lists the Parallel port on
your system. If not, use the hardware manager to add the parallel
port to your system. Perhaps that's why your computer can't find the
parallel port.

You might need to go into your BIOS and make sure that the LPT port is
enabled.

well, there's no onchip parallel ports .. So there's no LPT options in
bios.. i've already check it out..
(i'll check it again..)

There's no problem about installation.. After i've plug-in the card,
system detect it and i've installed the driver.. and i found a web
http://www.moschip.com/html/download_drivers.html
i download the latest driver and install again.. at Device Manager,
there's "Netmos PCI Parallel Port (lpt3)"..

at Device Manager,
there's "Netmos PCI Parallel Port (lpt3)"..

maybe some option in the driver may allow you to switch from LPT3 to LPT1 or
LPT2, even thought the DOS application may be able to print to LPT3 too.

You may also be required to reserve some memory IO addresses in the system
Bios for the PCI card.

I had exactly this problem when trying to add a second parallel port
using this card. Never did solve it. If you do find the solution,
please post it here.

Never mind what Windows says, just use the Doas program to directly
print.

I think Gary Tait is suggesting that you print from Dos.
"Doas" was probably a typing error (something I am quite good at!).
Please ignore the other response from the troll, he is trying to make fun of
you but as always he does it in rather bad taste.

at last i solved this problem...

The way to solve is: Registry...

Run Regedit - >HKEY Local Machine -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows
NT -> Current Version -> Ports

You'll see the Printer Ports there... i added LPT1: , 2, and 3 and
there's no problem now..
