When running dos the screen appears strange

hi all

i have a problem when i run a dos based exe program it opens full screen but
the latter and numbera all have **** everywhere it makes it impossible to
read the program i have tried all the setting when you right click on the
shortcut and it still is the same now when i try it at work it works perfect
i comparied all the setting and the seem the same at work im using xp pro sp2
and at home its xp home sp2 anyone have any ideas

Have you checked to see that the graphics settings for the monitor is the
same on both computers? I have found with DOS apps if you have one screen
that is set on 800 by 600 and the other is set on say 1024 by 768 the
program will run and look fine on one but not the other. I recomend that you
check and see if the program calls for a specific screen resolution.

Thanks for that idea i tried changing the screen size here in work and it
made no difference it still worked ill try it at home and see if it does
anything

Take a look here: Start>All Programs>Accessories>now rightclick
the Command Prompt and click Properties. Look and compare the
Fonts tabs and the Layout tabs of both computers. Write down the
settings at your work and then compare with the one at home.
