when packaging a presentation for cd hyperlinks break

Hi all,

I'm helping a faculty member here package 2 presentations for CD.
Unfortunately, when packaging them and viewing them in the powerpoint viewer,
the hyperlinks to and from the presentations break. Here's the scenario:

I have 2 presentations (called let's say Presentation1 and Presentation2).
There is a hyperlink in Pres1 - on slide 9 - to open Pres2 (which contains
only one slide). Pres2 has a hyperlink back to Pres1 BUT uses a bookmark to
navigate back to the original slide. In effect it should go back to Pres1
slide 9.

The links work perfectly while viewing the presentation in PowerPoint
itself. Once the presentations have been "packaged" and the PPTViewer takes
over the link back to Pres1, slide 9 doesn't work. It opens another copy of
Pres1 and starts it at slide 1.

Normally, I'd just save myself some headaches and combine the 2
presentations and deal with it. However, I can't do this in this situation
since the 2 presentations use different formatting

Any ideas? I'm at wit's end here. . .

Thanks - Joe

either get around the formatting problems...see

Or.... use the linking method.... see this ppt tutorial on linking
presentations together
http://www.awesomebackgrounds.com/powerpointlinking.htm

The trick is to call up Pres1, but not to link back to where it came
from.... as the presentation (pres2) finishes it will automatically return
from where it was called (linked) from.

When you're linking presentations like this, they will open one on top of
another. So when you go to Pres2, Pres1 will be open underneath Pres2 on the
same slide you left it. Rather than link back to Pres1, Slide 9, simply have
the hyperlink action settings END SHOW for Pres2 and you should be back at
Pres1 where you orginally left it, neatly closing Pres2. Otherwise you will
end up with mulitple windows open of both presentations.

See: http://www.pptmagic.com/articles/dynamicppt.htm for more techniques.
